Evergreen tree grow up to 14 m tall leaves leathery, spirally arranged, elliptic to obovate about 20 cm long, 10 cm wide flowers pale green at  first, turning reddish fruits of cashew unique, consist fleshy accessory called “cashew apple”, and true fruit drupe kidney-shaped

Cashew apple swollen, fleshy, pear or oval-shaped, high in vitamin C and antioxidants, highly juicy and sweet, used jellies , jams.

True fruit(seed) hard, grey, kidney-shaped shell hanging of the cashew apple. seeds drupe edible.

shell must be carefully roasted and cracked to neutralize the toxins before the edible.
