Solitary palm, dioecious palm, up to 10 m tall leaves fan-shaped (costapalmate) about 15 m long,  silvery waxy appearance male and female inflorescence are produced on different individuals fruit fleshy, oblong shaped or pear shaped, 6 cm long, 4 cm wide

Ornamental Palm. Leaves can be used for thatching. The trunk can be a source for timber for light construction.
